Now, and increasingly in the future, the scarcity of commodities and labor, and the need to achieve sustainability, will require key decision-makers to adopt innovative project financing and delivery techniques in the global construction market

On November 5-6 2009, distinguished international faculty assembled by the American College of Construction Lawyers and Princeton University will discuss the challenges facing the global construction industry because of continuing resource constrictions. Government, industry and academic leaders from around the world will convene on the Princeton campus to discuss and plan for this changing and challenging landscape.

Specific focus will be given to the following:
  • New financial arrangements and tools – how the demands of sustainability mandate altered financing approaches
  • Sustainable design – the requirements, challenges and benefits of mastering an environmentally sensitive built environment
  • Technological advancements – reoriented project relationships and other imperatives arising from evolving design and construction tools
Among the looming challenges that will be addressed are:
  • Environmental imperatives – the scarcity of food, water, energy and other natural resources and the increased pressure to build sustainable projects
  • Availability of human resources – the limited supply of educated and skilled workforces and the impact of immigration policies and open border agreements
  • Shrinking capital sources - the results emanating from the increased imposition of requirements and a reduced pool of funders
